Who is responsible?

The management and control of weeds across Western Australia is a collaborative effort between federal, state and local government; private and industry landholders; community; Indigenous groups and non-for-profit organisations.

DBCA is involved in the management of weeds statewide through education, guidance and the promotion of conservation outcomes. DBCA implements weed control only on lands and waters that are managed by the Department.

In Western Australia, the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage (DPLH) administers land that is not governed under a specific legislative framework. Freehold and Crown lands with recognised conservation values, and of interest to the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA), are referred to as “DBCA Lands of Interest”. In these cases, DPLH recognises DBCA as the responsible management agency.
